Das von Karl Friedrich Schinkel 1818–1821 errichtete Schauspielhaus krönt den traditionsreichen Gendarmenmarkt in Berlins Mitte. Nach seiner Zerstörung im 2. Weltkrieg wurde das Bauwerk am 1.10.1984 als Konzerthaus wiedereröffnet. Als Meisterwerk klassizistischer Baukunst bildet das heutige Konzerthaus Berlin mit Französischem und Deutschem Dom eines der schönsten architektonischen Ensembles Europas. In den vier Spielstätten Großer Saal, Kleiner Saal, Werner-Otto-Saal und Musikclub wird mit mehr als 500 Veranstaltungen die ganze Vielfalt der Musik dargeboten – von Sinfoniekonzerten über Kammermusik bis hin zu Neuer Musik. Mit seinen rund 100 Konzerten pro Saison hat das Konzerthausorchester Berlin einen wesentlichen Anteil am Profil des Konzerthauses. Open Stage Blackland ist ein Event bei dem Amateur-und Profi-Musiker sehr spontan live Songs zusammen spielen, die sie zuvor aus einer Liste von ca. 200 Cover-Songs von bekannten Bands wie Metallica, AC/DC, Motörhead, Deep Purple, Nirvana auswählen. Auf der Bühne steht eine komplette Backline bereit mit fünfteiligen Drumset, E-Gitarre, Bass und Verstärkern. Wenn sich zu einem Song in der Liste ein komplettes Line up (Schlagzeug, Gitarre, Bass und Gesang) eingetragen hat, wird diese Konstellation der Musiker von dem regional bekannten Moderator knicki-knacki aufgerufen, um die Bühne zu erobern. Viele berühmte Musiker besuchen regelmäßig die Open Stage Blackland, wie z.B. Martin Kesici (Enrichment), Jacky Lehmann (Pharao), Vincent Laboor (Sinners bleed / Ansoticca) und auch bekannte Mitglieder von örtlichen Bands wie BON, Poised, Geminus, Stashbox, Blind Trust...
