Dresden International School
DIS was founded in 1996 by government and community leaders from Stadt Dresden und Land Sachsen. The school, which is a non-profit organization, meets the needs of the growing expatriate community and is an essential element in promoting the economic development of the Dresden region. It has become a vital part of the cultural and economic life of this region.
DIS is a member of the European Council of International Schools and is an International Baccalaureate World School, and as such its program is regularly evaluated and assessed.
In May 2009 DIS received full accredited status by CIS (Council of International Schools) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
DIS has grown steadily from 13 pupils in 1996 to 533 from 38 nations. The school has its campus in the historic city of Dresden, which is renowned for its outstanding beauty, culture and educational institutions.
